Lough Bawn House
Boasting one of the most beautiful views in Ireland, Lough Bawn is an idyllic Georgian country house dating from 1820. Still owned by the original family it has been lovingly restored and updated by Verity Butterfield, a retired professional chef.
Set in 200 acres of stunning countryside Lough Bawn offers a timeless escape. Overlooking a beautiful lake, guests can enjoy walks over land untouched in hundreds of years where kingfishers, and otters can be spotted and orchids abound in beautiful meadows. Stunning views from every room ensure that this is a very special place to stay with most visitors returning time after time. The ethos is relaxed, welcoming and indulgent and offers the very best of a private country house experience.
Verity will provide delicious dinners with vegetables from the garden, trout from the lake (fishing available) and the best Irish beef and lamb from the estate. Breakfasts include delectable home-made jams, museli, granola, freshly baked Irish soda bread every morning, and for those with a bigger appetite, the full Irish breakfast with all the trimmings.
Lough Bawn is featured in Alastair sawdays Very Special places to stay and in the new (mum put name of book) as well as write ups in the mail on Sunday and Verity regularly receives excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. The visitors book is full of eulogies and praise for this exceptional, beautiful and stylish country house.
