Cheryl is a Botanical and botanically inspired artist specialising in strong, vibrant and contemporary watercolour images. Inspired by colour, structure and form her watercolour paintings combine her love of drawing with the immediacy and fluidity of watercolour. Preferring to draw and paint from life if possible her aim is to produce images which are visually pleasing and technically accurate.
After ‘A’ levels and an Arts Foundation course in Derby, Cheryl studied Technical, Scientific and Natural History Illustration at Blackpool College and began her professional career as a commercial illustrator, working for several years with illustrators agent The Garden Studio in Covent Garden.
Now based in rural South Derbyshire, Cheryl works from her studio, where she paints for exhibition and to commission, and teaches.
A member of the Society of Botanical Artists she received the St Cuthberts Mill Award for an outstanding watercolour in 2009 and was awarded a RHS Silver Gilt medal in Botanical painting at BBC Gardeners World Live in 2010.
You can learn with Cheryl at her studio on one of her programmed watercolour and botanical painting workshops, as part of a group, or in a one to one tutorial.
Her images can be purchased as original paintings, limited edition prints and greetings cards.
