I am an an artist living and working in Suffolk. A great love of nature inspires all of my work. Daily walks provide material together with memories of the woods of Hampshire where I grew up.
I draw out in the countryside and also collect leaves, twigs, stones etc., to take back to the studio where my work always starts with more drawing.
Using mainly oils, my paintings stem from these drawings and is then filtered through memory and the process of handling the paint. The paintings often become semi abstract.
An interest in natural history sometimes leads me to make detailed watercolours of plants and I enjoy the close scrutiny of botanical detail that these entail. Some of these become hand - made concertina books (leporellos).
