More about location
Internationally-selling artist; also produces highest quality commissions and prints for clients UK-wide; over 40 years experience across a range of genres; animal portraiture a specialism.
Over the years, John has been moved to see the emotional reactions of his clients when they receive their animal portraits. These can range from unbridled joy to melancholy tears, particularly if it is a portrait of an animal that is no longer on this earth.
He mostly uses gouache (an opaque watercolour medium) for his very detailed work, but is equally at home with pastels and graphite pencils which deliver quicker turnaround times. John’s artworks are labours of love and his attention to detail often gives the pieces an almost photorealistic appearance. This can often result in the mistaken belief that viewers are looking at photographs.
If you want to have your own animal portrait painted – be it equine, feline or canine etc – you can find out more by visiting the commissions page on John’s website or call/email him for a no obligation chat.
Highlights of his résumé include: selling work through two of the annual watercolour exhibitions organised and run by the Sunday Times in association with Singer and Friedlander at the Mall Galleries (1997) and with the Royal Watercolour Society at the RWS’ Bankside gallery (2008). He also completed a series of architectural studies of Queen’s College in Oxford for a former member of the college and is very proud of these.
