The Museum of Royal Worcester
Experience Worcester’s rich porcelain heritage in newly refreshed displays, minutes from the centre of Worcester.
The Museum of Royal Worcester houses the world’s largest collection of Worcester porcelain – over 10 000 ceramics together with a rich archive of pattern books, company records, photographs and recordings of past workers and much more. Three centuries of heritage is cared for next to the River Severn on the historic site where porcelain was made until 2006.
A major Heritage Lottery funded £1.7M refurbishment of the Museum opened in Summer 2018 – telling the story of over 250 years of ceramic design, innovation and skill in Worcester that was transported all over the world. Discover some of the earliest porcelain made in Britain dating from 1751 and see how tastes and habits changed from Georgian to Victorian times and into the 20th Century.
Today you can often witness firsthand the skills and processes of decorating fine porcelain with past-factory employees demonstrating in the galleries and sharing memories of life at ‘The Porcelain’. Hands-on interactive exhibits in the new galleries invite all generations to discover more about the history of invention and innovation in the City.
The Museum shop offers a range of high-quality products with an exceptional range of new and vintage Royal Worcester. You can also browse and buy from us online.
